Diesel Engine Oil CK-4
60,000 km report-backed range · 100,000 km monitored fleet program
A premium CK-4 heavy-duty diesel engine oil platform offered in SAE 15W-40, 15W-50 and 20W-50. The supplied inspection reports support the 60,000 km-labelled range with measured viscosity, VI, cold-cranking, HTHS, flash point, pour point, cleanliness and foam-control data. The 100,000 km option is presented only as a condition-monitored fleet program requiring OEM approval, controlled duty and used-oil analysis—not as a universal drain guarantee.

Impressive design, grounded in measured data
The product story below uses the supplied inspection values and official API CK-4 service-category context. It avoids invented percentages and unverified OEM approvals.
High-Temperature Film Reserve
All three reports show HTHS viscosity of 4.78 mPa·s at 150°C—1.08 mPa·s above the stated 3.7 minimum—supporting strong film thickness under the reported test condition.
See HTHS evidence →Cold-Cranking Headroom
Reported CCS results sit below their stated maxima by 1,500 mPa·s for 15W-40, 1,541 mPa·s for 15W-50 and 3,400 mPa·s for 20W-50. Test temperatures differ and each result must be judged against its own report limit.
Compare grade behaviour →Thermal & Flow Range
Measured flash points reach 235–248°C, while pour points range from -32°C to -34°C. These results provide useful batch-level indicators of high-temperature volatility resistance and laboratory low-temperature flow.
View temperature data →Clean Oil & Foam Control
Every report records no water, no mechanical impurities and 0/0 foaming for all listed sequences, with a final determination of Pass.
Review quality control →See the distance between each result and its stated limit

Two service programs—one report-backed, one condition-monitored
The attached documents are labelled 60,000 km. No 100,000 km inspection report or field-validation protocol was supplied, so the 100,000 km option is presented as an engineering validation pathway rather than a guaranteed claim.
Three-grade CK-4 product family
Supported by supplied inspection reports for 15W-40, 15W-50 and 20W-50. Each report records measured physical properties and a Pass determination. Actual drain interval remains subject to the engine manufacturer, duty cycle, sump size, filter system, fuel quality and oil condition.
Source documents availableFleet-specific validation—not a universal promise
A 100,000 km target should only be evaluated where the OEM permits extended drains and a controlled fleet program tracks oil condition, contamination, wear and filter capacity. Stop or shorten the interval whenever analysis, alarms, fuel quality or operating severity indicates deterioration.
Validation requiredSuggested 100,000 km validation checkpoints
A practical fleet trial can use staged sampling and trend review rather than waiting until the final distance. The exact schedule and condemnation limits must be approved by the responsible technical authority.
For modern and earlier high-speed four-stroke diesel engines where CK-4 is permitted
API describes CK-4 for 2017 model-year on-highway and Tier 4 non-road diesel engines, as well as previous model-year diesel engines. Always follow the OEM requirement for service category, viscosity, fuel sulfur, aftertreatment and drain interval.
Built around demanding diesel duty
Potential applications include highway fleets, construction and mining equipment, agricultural machinery and stationary power—only where the selected CK-4 grade is authorized.
On-Highway Fleets
Trucks, buses and coaches where API CK-4 and the chosen SAE grade are listed by the engine manufacturer.
Tier 4 Off-Highway
Selected loaders, excavators, graders, mining and site equipment with compatible emissions systems.
DPF & Advanced Aftertreatment
API notes CK-4 is especially effective at sustaining emission-control durability where particulate filters and advanced aftertreatment systems are used.
Earlier CK-4-Compatible Engines
API states CK-4 exceeds the performance criteria of CJ-4, CI-4 with CI-4 PLUS, CI-4 and CH-4, but manufacturer approval remains essential.

“—” means the supplied report did not state a quality-index limit for that property. Values and method names are reproduced from the source documents.
technical property
Kinematic viscosity
KV40 reflects flow at a moderate reference temperature; KV100 supports the SAE operating-temperature grade range. Higher is not automatically better—the correct value is the one specified by the engine maker.
Viscosity index
VI indicates how strongly viscosity changes with temperature. Among the supplied reports, 15W-50 has the highest measured VI at 151.
Cold-cranking simulator
CCS estimates cranking resistance at the report's stated low temperature. Results measured at different temperatures should not be ranked as though they were identical-condition tests.
High-temperature high-shear
HTHS represents oil-film behaviour under high temperature and shear. All three source reports state 4.78 mPa·s against a minimum of 3.7.
Flash point
The open-cup flash point is a laboratory indicator related to volatility and ignition of vapours. It is not the normal operating limit of the engine oil.
Pour point & foam
Pour point is a low-flow laboratory property, not a guaranteed starting temperature. Foam results of 0/0 indicate no reported foam tendency or residual foam in the listed test sequences.
Three grades, three operating profiles
Choose only the viscosity grade approved in the engine manual for the ambient-temperature range, duty cycle and equipment condition.
15W-40
Balanced fleet gradeLowest measured KV40 and KV100 of the range, with a 15W winter designation and the highest reported flash point.
15W-50
Wide operating viscosityHighest measured viscosity index and a -34°C pour point, with operating-temperature viscosity in the SAE 50 report range.
20W-50
Highest operating viscosityHighest measured KV40 and KV100, intended only for engines and climates where SAE 20W-50 is explicitly approved.
Important questions before selecting CK-4 60K or 100K
Is CK-4 suitable for every diesel engine?
No. Use CK-4 only where the engine manufacturer permits the category and selected SAE viscosity. API FA-4 is a different, lower-HTHS category for selected engines and is not interchangeable with CK-4.
Does the TDS prove a 60,000 km drain interval?
The attached inspection reports are titled 60,000 km and show passing physical-property results, but they do not define a universal field-test protocol. The actual interval must follow OEM limits and operating conditions.
Can 100,000 km be guaranteed from these reports?
No. No 100,000 km report or field trial was supplied. A 100,000 km target requires fleet-specific OEM approval, staged used-oil analysis, filter-capacity control and documented condemnation limits.
Which grade is thickest at operating temperature?
20W-50 has the highest measured KV40 and KV100. 15W-50 is slightly lower at operating temperature but has the highest reported VI. The correct choice is still the OEM-approved grade.
Can the three CCS results be compared directly?
Not as identical-condition results. 15W-40 was reported at -20°C, while 15W-50 and 20W-50 were reported at -15°C. Judge each value against its own stated maximum and verify the authorized viscosity specification.
What fuel sulfur level matters for CK-4?
API states CK-4 is formulated for diesel fuel sulfur up to 500 ppm, but fuel above 15 ppm may affect exhaust-aftertreatment durability and/or the drain interval. Consult the engine manufacturer when sulfur exceeds 15 ppm.
Does this page claim an API license or OEM approval?
No. The supplied reports do not show an API EOLCS license number or specific OEM approval. Verify licensing and approvals through official directories and authorized product documents before using quality marks or approval logos.
